Thick Berry Smoothie Bowl
A smoothie you eat with a spoon: frozen berries and banana blended with just a splash of milk, then topped with granola and fruit.
- 10 min prep
- 1 bowl
- 4 ingredients

The difference between a smoothie and a smoothie bowl is the amount of liquid. Start with ¼ cup and add more one tablespoon at a time: it's easy to add liquid and impossible to take it out.
Blend in short pulses and stop to scrape down the sides. A blender with a tamper makes this much easier.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups (about 210 g) frozen mixed berries
- 1 medium banana, peeled, sliced and frozen
- ¼ cup (60 ml) milk, plus more by the tablespoon if needed
- For the top: 2 tablespoons granola, a few banana slices, 1 teaspoon chia seeds
Method
- Pour the milk into the blender, then add the frozen berries and banana.
- Blend in short pulses, stopping to scrape down the sides, until thick and smooth. Add milk one tablespoon at a time only if the blades stop turning.
- Spoon into a bowl, add the toppings and eat right away.
Tips for the best texture
- Let the frozen fruit sit for 5 minutes before blending so it breaks down more easily.
- Chill the bowl in the freezer while you blend; the smoothie stays thick longer.
- Add the toppings just before eating so the granola stays crunchy.
